NatraTex Cotswold Provides Durable & Versatile Roads to a Historic City

NatraTex |

Winchester was the obvious choice for Bovis Homes to develop 200+ homes due to its well-known historical connections; from The Great Hall playing host to King Arthur’s Round Table, old Roman developments and links with the Austen family, most notably Jane Austen who was laid to rest in Winchester Cathedral.

Coloured Roads Using NatraTex Cotswold

The material used at Winchester Village was NatraTex’s flagship product, NatraTex Cotswold Classic. NatraTex supplied its 6mm NatraTex Cotswold Classic hard stone to cover 2000m² of access roads throughout the development in June 2017.  A lot of thought has gone into the detailing at Winchester Village with block paving being used to link NatraTex Cotswold to conventional tarmacadam.  This has provided the new development with durable and versatile coloured roads.

NatraTex is not a resin bound or bonded product but instead shares similar characteristics to that of conventional macadam, being laid at the same depth and with sub layers (base and binder course). This results in a multipurpose coloured surfacing material that would be perfect for use on highways, park footpaths, playgrounds, MUGA, cycleways, decorative driveways, and much more.  NatraTex is virtually maintenance-free and maintains its colour for a long-lasting finish.  This smooth surface is also much safer than other alternatives as it is resistant to cracks and potholes, preventing any trip hazards.

Winchester Village gives a nod to Jane Austen who lived in the nearby town of Chawton just East of Winchester.  The houses in this development are named after characters from her novels such as the Darcy, the Bennet and the Cassandra.
