Resin bound surfacs are made up of high-quality aggregates mixed with a clear resin binder. This mixture is then hand trowelled onto a prepared sub-base, smoothed over and left to cure.

It is important to leave this type of surface to dry thoroughly before us. Failure to do so can result in cracking or deformations which can be expensive to fix or leave the new surface looking unsightly rather than fresh and new.

In this article, we’ll explore how long it takes for resin bound gravel to dry and the different factors that might affect curing times.

Resin Bound Gravel Drying Times

Drying times for resin bound gravel depends on both the depth and the weather conditions. In the height of summer, it can take as little as 6 to 12 hours for resin bound surfaces to cure. The flip side of this is that in cold weather, resin bound systems can take much longer to dry, sometimes up to 48 hours.

Ideally, the surfacing contractor you use to install a resin bound gravel surface will advise on how long it will take to cure. In giving you this information, they will take into account air and surface temperatures and inform you what signs to look out for to check it is fully dry.

NatraTex As A Resin Bound Alternatives

If you’re looking for an alternative to resin bound gravel for your driveway or footpath, look no further than NatraTex. NatraTex is a cost-effective, durable hard landscaping material that can be used in the creation of driveways and other residential surfaces such as footpaths, access roads and courtyards.

NatraTex differs from resin bound systems in that it is an asphalt surface course with similar characteristics to a conventional macadam. While resin bound surfaces are usually hand-trowelled in the installation process, we recommend that NatraTex is machine laid where possible to get the very best finish.

Like resin bound surfaces, the curing time for NatraTex can vary depending on weather conditions. NatraTex should be left to fully cool before the surface area is used, this usually takes around 12 hours.
