NatraTex: The 21st Century’s Surface Material

Netbiz ✈️ |

In July 2022, temperatures reached over 32.2 degrees centigrade for the first time in recorded history. For two days, infrastructure throughout the country struggled under the heat. Trains were slowed or cancelled, schools and offices were closed, and roads and runways began to melt under the immense heat. Yes, melt.

Weather & Road Surfacing

In the UK, we’ve traditionally enjoyed a fairly consistent weather pattern of 18 to 25 °C during the summer months. Outlying temperatures – such as those experienced in England in 1975 – were just that. Outliers. They were rare freak weather events.

However, on Monday 18th and Tuesday 19th July 2022, air temperatures went as high as 40°C. This is a problem because, while asphalt doesn’t normally melt until it reaches 50°C and the air temperature is considerably cooler than that, it stores heat excellently.

As a result, asphalt is normally much, much warmer than the air around it. For example, when the air temperature has reached 25°C, asphalt in the sun has been measured at 51°C. This indicates that given the right conditions asphalt has the ability to double the ambient air temperature of the air around it. But what does this mean?

Quite simply, it means that traditional asphalt is no longer up to scruff.

NatraTex

NatraTex, thanks to its unique manufacturing process, has a much higher melting point than traditional asphalt. In simple terms, for the customer looking for a hard-wearing, highly-durable coloured tarmac alternative, there is no better material than NatraTex.

In more technical terms, NatraTex’s range of products is able to shrug off heat that would otherwise turn tarmac and asphalt back into liquid. That means less maintenance, lower costs, and less fuss.

What could be better than that?

Customisability

Let’s be honest for a minute: tarmac and asphalt look dull. They only come in two colours, and after they invariably crack or start to fall apart they start to look like gravel. So they just don’t look as great as they could do.

Instead, why not invest in something that will last for decades? A surfacing material that would look great for its entire lifespan?

NatraTex is that material. It comes in a wide variety of colours and consistencies, from the bright and colourful NatraTex Colour to the sandy-coloured NatraTex Eco. Furthermore, thanks to its unique manufacturing process, NatraTex can comfortably last for decades without requiring any form of major maintenance.

So what could you use NatraTex for?

NatraTex can be used for a lot of things, truth be told. While governments and organisations have used our products for installations as varied as bike lanes and decorative paving, we want to spend a little bit of time talking about what people have done with our products.

Driveways

NatraTex is a great material to use to build a driveway. As we’ve previously mentioned, it doesn’t need a lot of maintenance – staying more or less in its pristine state for decades.

That alone makes NatraTex a great product to use for driveways. You don’t have to worry about potholes developing or constant rain damaging the surface. At the same time, the fact that there are so many different colour options and types of NatraTex products should make it one of your first choices for surfacing material.

Are you interested in having a bright colour surface? NatraTex colour would be perfect for your driveway. Or maybe you like the woodchip aesthetic but prefer something a little more solid? No problem. NatraTex’s ChipTex product would be perfect for your needs.
